Starting Somewhere New Can Feel Like a Big Step
Knowing what will happen before you arrive can make starting at The Bridge feel a little easier.
Every learner's journey with us is different, but there are some things you can expect. From getting ready for your first day to planning what comes next, we'll work alongside you and your family throughout your placement.
Getting to Know You
Before you start, we'll spend time gathering the information we need to understand you, your needs and what you'd like to achieve.
This is also your opportunity to meet us, ask questions and begin getting familiar with The Bridge.
We'll Show You Around
Nobody expects you to know everything straight away. We'll introduce you to the people around you, show you the provision and help you understand what your time at The Bridge will look like.
Learning That Works for You
Your sessions may include academic learning, practical activities, movement, opportunities to regulate, breaks and targeted interventions.
We work with learners in small groups and adapt our approach where needed. We know that being ready to learn can look different for different people.
Relationships Come First
You won't be expected to do this alone. The adults around you will take time to get to know you, understand what helps and build positive, consistent relationships with you.
At The Bridge, we believe progress starts with feeling safe, understood and supported.
Progress Is More Than a Grade
We'll support and recognise your academic progress, but we'll also look at the wider changes that can make a big difference to your future.
The Bridge Is Part of the Journey
A placement at The Bridge should help you move towards a positive next step. We'll work with you, your family and the professionals around you to think carefully about what comes next.
